Senate Democrats will not accept rural air service subsidy cuts causing FAA partial shutdown

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that Senate Democrats are unwilling to accept cuts in subsidies for rural air service. So much for reducing "wasteful spending" by the government. Harry Reid and the Democrats do not want to reduce $16.5 million in subsidies to little used airports in rural areas that have larger airline services nearby.

The Senate adjourned on Tuesday without coming to an agreement to end the 2 week long partial shutdown of the Federal Aviation Administration. The Senate is now on vacation for the rest of August.
