Musikfest 2011 New Venues plus early Sands Steel Stack Performers scheduled

August 8, 2011 - Steve Miller - 8:30 pm. show by the 1970s rocker. His hits include "Take the Money and Run", "Jungle Love", and "Jet Airliner". August 11, 2011 Straight No Chaser - 8:30 pm show from the 10 member "a capella" group. They released their "With a Twist" album in April 2011 that hit No. 29 on the Billboard chart.

The South Side of Bethlehem will host a third of the venues for the 2011 Musikfest. A new main stage and the move of Americaplatz to the south side of Bethlehem are the major changes to Musikfest in 2011. The new main stage at PNC Plaza will be able to seat 7,200 people. The city’s historic district on the north side will continue to have Musikfest shows at Banana Island, Central Moravian Church, Festplatz, Handwerkplatz, Liederplatz, Lyrikplatz, Main Street, Plaza Tropical and Volksplatz.

Americaplatz is moving to the new Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks. Approximately 2,500 people will be able to bring blankets or lawn chairs and sit on the grass for performances of local, regional and national rock, blues and Americana music. Three performers have been announced. Love in Stockholm will perform on Aug 5. Entrain will appear on Aug 6 and Bill Kirchen and Too Much Fun will appear on Aug 14.

Another new venue on the south side will be the ArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Cafe stage which will show performances that were formerly held at Zoeller and Foy Hall. The Cafe stage has a capacity seating of 350 and about 900 for standing room.
