McDonald's announced today that it will change its Happy Meals. The McDonald's chain will begin serving a fruit or vegetable with every Happy Meal sold in the United States. McDonald's announced that it will shrink the portion of french fries in its children's meals starting in September 2011 in some of its markets and all of its 14,000 restaurants by April.
Apple slices will often be included as the side dish with the Happy Meal. Instead of apple slices the meal could have carrots, raisins, pineapple slices or mandarin oranges, depending on the time of year and the region in which they are being served.
