The Edsel was an car manufactured by Ford during the 1958, 1959, and 1960 model years. The Edsel never gained popularity with contemporary American car buyers and subsequently sold poorly. Sound familiar so far? Consequently, Ford lost millions of dollars on the Edsel's development and manufacture. The name "Edsel" became forever synonymous with failure. Lets hope the Volt doesn’t duplicate that distinction for the sake of GM and all of the taxpayers who are on the hook..
