    U.S. auto sales were up an anemic 1% in July 2011. Last month was the 3rd straight month of disappointing sales for carmakers. Ford and GM have scaled back their annual forecast for this year. In July truck sales were down while sales of small cars and more fuel-efficient SUVs were up.
