New Balance is the only major company in the athletic footwear business that still operates American factories. New Balance is fighting to survive as free-trade negotiations with Vietnam loom on the horizon. New Balance is a privately held Boston company that has 1,000 US workers in its 5 New England plants. The sneaker industry imports 99 % of its product. I for one really like my New Balance running shoes and have for years.
