Celebrate on Saturday May 7, 2011 the 10th anniversary of Free Comic Book Day.
Get a free comic book and visit local comic book stores and discover the wonder of comic books. On this national day, thousands of shops will give out an estimated 2 million books to introduce people to the fun of reading comics.
Beachead Comics at 1601 W. Chew St., Allentown is celebrating this milestone with several artists and writers who will meet fans and sign autographs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Beachhead will also give away "Thor" comics in honor of the movie "Thor" which opens on Friday.
Dreamscape Comics on 302 W. Broad St., Bethlehem is celebrating the day by giving away copies of the 8th issue of "Dutchy Digest," which is a comic book about the adventures of a Pennsylvania Dutch detective. Dutchy Digest is available exclusively at the store.
Additional local stores participating in the celebration are Ultimate Comics at 525 Spruce street in Hellertown and 201 Station Road in Quakertown. The Encounter at 811 Union Blvd. in Allentown and 542 Main Street in Stroudsburg. Also the Phantom of the Attic at 129 N. Third Street in Easton.
