Ocean Spray to open Plant in the Lehigh Valley

Ocean Spray has announced that it is closing its manufacturing plant in Bordentown, New Jersey and opening a new plant near Allentown. The company will build a facility that will open somewhere in the Lehigh Valley in September 2013. The move to the Lehigh Valley will be a more cost-effective option for Ocean Spray.

Ocean Spray hopes to relocate as many workers as possible from Bordentown. The current Bordentown plant employs about 250 workers. Some local officials have indicated that the company is looking to build in Upper or Lower Macungie townships.

Ocean Spray is the most recent company to announce that it plans to move into the Lehigh Valley. Other recent announcements of companies moving here include United Bank Card, which will relocate corporate and warehouse operations from two New Jersey locations to Hanover Township. A second company, A.L. Bazzini plans to move its production to the Lehigh Valley this summer. Another company, Avantor Performance Materials plans to move approximately 140 workers here from Phillipsburg, New Jersey over the next three years.
