Who or What is "al dente" - and Why do I care ? If you like Pasta you will

Al dente is a fancy term for pasta that's fully cooked, but not overly soft. The phrase is Italian for "to the tooth," which comes from testing the pasta's consistency with your teeth.

So your cooking Pasta & you want to get it "al dente" !

Leave the pasta in boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes or until cooked. Add a little salt to the boiling water. You will periodically have to take a piece of pasta and taste it during the cooking process to determine how chewy you like it. Once cooked, leave it to cool for a few minutes. Do not leave it soaking for too long. Drain the pasta and run it under cool water. Pasta cooked in this manner will remain firm and not soft.... "Al dente" that is.
